The update should work. We've tested it on our servers and nobody reported an issue like this. As I can see in the error message, there is an issue with the file permissions on your server's file system. Please make sure that the wp-content/plugins folder is accessible and writable.
I’m experiencing a similar issue. I’ve already disabled caching and deactivated CSS/JS compression, but the problem persists. I’m using the Enfold theme, and everything (theme and plugins) is fully up to date.
The only error I’m seeing is:
[06-Sep-2024 07:38:43 UTC] PHP Notice: LayerSlider skin "v6" not found. Defaulting to "noskin". in /www/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/assets/classes/class.ls.sources.php on line 100
In the backend, when editing a LayerSlider project, I can see the updates being applied, but they don’t appear on the frontend. (publish button was clicked ;-) )
Here are the details of my setup:
LayerSlider: 7.12.2
Enfold: 6.0.4
WordPress: 6.6.1
PHP: 8.3.8
Active Plugins:
Polylang
Real Media Library
SVG Support
WP Super Cache (temporarily deleted)
Yoast Duplicate Post
Yoast SEO
Additional Information: The plugin WebP Express also caused issues (images not displaying), so I’ve deactivated it for now.
Enfold Theme loads LayerSlider in a non-standard way that interferes with the "normal" version. Please deactivate and remove LayerSlider (your sliders will be not deleted).
Then, please log in to our accounts portal, and download the latest version of LayerSlider. No registration is needed, you can log in with the email address used for the purchase. Then, you can proceed with the installation as you would normally do. After that, you'll have the most recent version installed, which should resolve this issue.
I’ve followed your instructions: I deactivated and removed LayerSlider, then downloaded the latest version from your portal and reinstalled it. However, the version I installed (7.12.2) is the same as the one I had previously, and unfortunately, the issue still persists.
The updates in the backend are still not reflected on the frontend.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI: When I disable the visibility of any layer, it is correctly hidden in the frontend. However, text changes are not being reflected/shown.
This issue should caused by a cache plugin. Please make sure that you purge/delete all cache files in any cache plugins you are using after you've made the changes in the slider.
No, as I mentioned earlier, WP Super Cache is temporarily deleted, so it's not related to caching.
I’ve just discovered that the issue seems to be caused by the Polylang plugin. When I deactivate Polylang, everything works as expected, and the changes are reflected correctly.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this conflict?
FYI: even when wp super cache is running and polylang is deactivated -> it works fine
In this case, I recommend visiting Polylang's String Translation menu. There, you should be able to find the corresponding strings and update them. If you don't need translatable projects, you can also turn off string translation under the LayerSlider Settings → Integrations menu.
Failed update LayerSlider.
