I found a bug related to the new Effect Layer not working in popups that get triggered by a click and were not embedded into the page beforehand.
DevConsole says: LayerSlider (UID: LS56aky12c2) error:"Plugin files are missing!" and Plugin "typewriter" has been added in slider init options, but the source files are not found on page.
This fixes itself when you use it in another LayerSlider and embed it into the page, but thats probably not the desired behavior.
