Hi. I am trying to have single words be highlighted depending on which slide we're on (1-3). However, I don't want the previous words to fade out when you switch slides. But when I add a layer of highlighted text, it appears UNDER the global layer from slide 1. How can I make the layers for slides 2 and 3 sit ON TOP OF the global layers from slide 1?
In LayerSlider, the stacking order of layers is determined by their position in the Layers List — layers at the top of the list will appear above those below when overlapping occurs. Each layer has a stacking position, which starts from 100 on every slide. So the bottom-most layer has a value of 100, the one above it 101, and so on.
When using static layers (i.e., layers that persist across multiple slides), their stacking value remains the same as it was on the slide where they were initially added. This can cause issues when you want other layers on subsequent slides to appear above or below them, since their stacking order doesn’t automatically adjust on later slides.
To handle this, we’ve introduced the Stacking Order setting, which you’ll find in the right sidebar under Layers → Style → Advanced Settings. You can manually assign a stacking value lower than 100 to ensure certain layers always appear underneath others. Alternatively, you can assign a higher value (e.g., 150) to the layers on later slides to make sure they render above static layers.
This gives you full control over the visual hierarchy of your content, regardless of whether layers are static or slide-specific.
Hi, George. Thanks so much for your help. That worked perfectly. I think my problem was I didn't realize that the stack started at 100, so I was trying values like 10, 20, etc. and never made it up high enough for it to work! Simple mistake, but you've saved the day. Thanks again!
