Hi. I just updated to the newest WordPress, and a lot of my sliders broke.
For example, the introduction slider was from a template i used.. and all moved to the corner. Some other sliders look fine in the layerslider build/edit interface preview, but on the live site, they are missing text layers.
Also getting: ""Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response."" when changing sliders and trying to update the wordpress site.
Please advise, I have no idea what to to, and my clients wants updated images and sliders.
Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is John, and I'm happy to assist you today.
Can you please tell me which version did you update from? These issues are very strange, and they shouldn't happen. A potential reason I can think of is caching, so I'd recommend emptying all possible caches. These include the web browser, site optimization plugins, CDN services, or even your WordPress theme might offer these features. For example, Enfold is notorious for not being able to track version-managed files properly, and you might need to disable then re-enable certain optimization features like combining and minifying JavaScript files.
The "Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response." is a WordPress error message, and I don't believe LayerSlider has anything to do with it. Sometimes WordPress shows this error when there's something misconfigured on the site or server.
Hi John. Thanks for getting back!! It was version 6.x -not sure which version, unfortunately.
I purged the cache with the W3 total cache plugin. The slides are still broken. For example. the introduction slider on the top was used with the template "Flying Banners 2" as you can see all the banners are stuck to the left edge for some reason. I have not changed anything on this site in 2 years, just kept the plugin updated. But somehow now that I upgraded to Layerslider 7.x many of them 'broke' Please advise on how I can fix this? Thanks so much in advance for your help, John!
I still believe it's a caching issue. As mentioned, Enfold is unable to track version-managed files properly, so your site might still use some of the old plugin files and get stuck in a "half-updated" state. Did you have a chance to try out what I said in my previous message?
