Limited availability during the holidays
Another busy year is coming to its end, and an exciting year lies ahead. In order to get ready for a fresh new start, our team will spend a few days' rest during the winter holidays. Over the holiday break, we will have reduced staffing from December 20th, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, so please be patient if you do not receive a response as quickly as you normally would.
We send our warmest wishes for happiness, health, and success throughout the coming year. Thank you for your continued support, and may you have a peaceful and blessed Happy Holidays!
I'm running a local XAMPP stack for development speed. No errors are appearing on screen, in the wp-errors log, or in the JavaScript console. In other words, "save" and "publish" appear to work, but my changes are **frequently** lost.
The first time this happened and I lost a couple of hours of work, I thought I had saved an earlier version of the slider somehow. When copy-pasting layers seemed to fail to save, I thought name conflicts might cause the issue, or maybe copy-paste just doesn't work correctly.
But now I'm seeing regularly and repeatedly. I'm copy-pasting some layers between slides, save every slide multiple times, make additional changes and save several times, publish multiple times, and then view the page on WP front end. And all the changes are gone.
Sometimes the changes don't disappear right away. Sometimes they seem to disappear the moment I change to a different slide and return.
This is incredibly frustrating. I've reached a state where I cannot make any progress on my project, because the plugin keeps losing my changes.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Please assist, thanks.
Hi Phillip,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is John, and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working toward your ticket.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing saving issues. We've never received a report like this, and it sounds very strange. This isn't normal, and none of what you've described should happen.
Copy-pasting layers shouldn't affect saving, and we aren't aware of any issues related to this. Saving issues usually occur due to database-related problems. We often recommend customers to visit System Status and press the UPDATE DATABASE button. Your circumstances are different, but I'd recommend giving it a try.
If you're using an optimization or caching solution on your site or server, I'd recommend disabling them. Saving might work properly, but changes aren't reflected in real-time due to using these kinds of solutions.
Please also try to temporarily disable all other plugins and switch to the default WordPress theme to see if it solves the issue. If it does, then you can find out its source by re-enabling them one at a time and watching when the issue resurfaces. This is a common technique to identify potential 3rd party issues.

Thank you for the response. It's good to know that I'm not using things incorrectly, at least.
I have an update, and a workaround. I switched from developing on XAMPP to our hosted dev site. I haven't seen the problem with saving since moving online.
So it appears the saving issue is due to the XAMPP environment.
Yes, I would also say that it's a server configuration thing. LayerSlider is used on millions of websites, and saving issues are almost exclusively caused by some issue on the server. If there was a bug in LayerSlider, we'd receive more complaints.
We're using MAMP Pro on Mac OS for local development, which works fine out of the box. Maybe trying an alternative solution might help.
