Layerslider and mobile device data

    Hi

I setup a Layerslider project for use on my home page when visitors to my site connect via a PC

In layerslider project settings I have enabled "Hide on Mobile" as well as "Hide Under" which I have set to 768

On my wordpress page I have inserted the Advanced Layerslider media element as well as a Fullscreen slider for use when mobile devices connect to my site.

The Fullscreen slider is hidden from devices greater than 768

The layerslider has many quite large images but is still fast when using a PC

The fullscreen slider has fewer images which are lower resolution. Maybe 11 images totalling about 2Mb

However, when you connect to my site using a mobile device on 4G, it seems too slow. Also, it seems that around 15Mb of data is being downloaded

So I am wondering if the files in the Layerslider are being downloaded even though it is hidden from the mobile device.

    Is that possible ?

    Ivan

    Hello Ivan,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is George and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

I would recommend you to enable Enhanced Lazy Load for that slider. This feature can help reduce data usage. You can find it in Project Settings, please check the attached screenshot.

The answer is not unequivocal for that question. The browsers are often starting to download images in the background even if those images are not visible on the page. So, this can cause unwanted data traffic while a hidden slider is included on the site. The solution I've recommended you is exactly for preventing this issue.
