I have been looking for a decent slider control, and ended up buying LayerSlider. Works pretty well, has nice features, but perhaps I'm missing some things about responsiveness. What is the best approach of setting up a slider for both PC and mobile usage? Currently I have set up 2 different sliders with a different dimension, but is this really this way that one should cope with responsive design ?
Anyway, one thing I cannot find and can't understand, is why the panel will not get higher in case you have set up text boxes with word wrap, that will begin to grow and span multiple lines depending on the stylesheet of your site. Currently I have to foresee enough whitespace to cover enough differences in dimensions. Isn't there another way, more dynamic, to do this?
Since version 6 of LayerSlider you have the option to display layers only on certain devices (desktop, mobile, tablet). This feature is called device specific layers, and it gives you the option to create separate layers for mobile, tablet and desktop view in the same slide, and only show them on the required device. This only changes the slider on the layer level. It is possible to set min.mobile font size in the layer styles.
Additionally to the device specific layers, you could also build two sliders with different sizes or with different content/layout for desktop and mobile, include them both to the site, and only display them (using the Hide over and Hide under options in the Slider Settings) on the required device. You can change every slider option this way. So this gives you more control, but requires more work.
Thanks for the reply. I follow the concept of display layers, but what I cannot seem to find is how I can set a layer to a specific size? I can only find such a setting at the slider level, not at the layer level.
At this moment I decided to keep two separate sliders, and group them together, each with a separate height and width
Thank you for your answer! LayerSlider use javascript to calculate the size, height and width values based on the device screen. It is possible to set a min. mobile font size for the text layers for example. However, I think the two separate slider is a better option to manage the sliders.
1. As I see your second slider only contains one slide, so that's why it's only play once. You should duplicate your first slide or create an empty slide, which will solve this problem.
2. The issue with the images caused by the lazy load media feature of the siteground optimizer plugin. I've disabled it and now the positions are correct. Please check it.
I tried the trick of duplicating my slide, and that did the trick, for both issues.
The animation now loops constantly as it should.
My two buttons pointing to external web sites are now positioned as designed, whether or not they are pointing to a URL
And I can confirm that the slider works correctly in combination with SG Optimizer. Out of precaution, I first purge the cache and then reload the page. Haven't got any issues working like that.
So, after all, duplicating my only slider is a real magic trick. Could be an enhancement of the product to fix this behavior in case of 1 slide, but the work around is easy as well. You just have to know about it.
