production vs live sites

    hi there!!!.  i've only just become a registered user, though layerslider came bundled with the bridge theme when i bought it a few years ago.   i had only dabbled, but now i want to make it the centre of my new updated site.  i have the 3 site license, and i was told i could have production builds hosting the plugin as well that didn't count towards that.

    the URL i sent is a "live" (but hidden from the public) page online that i'm using to test what i am building locally on my machine with MAMP.  once the site actually goes LIVE to the PUBLIC, it will be at teethbydnash.com, and i know i'd use of of the licenses there, probably the one i have assigned to the "live build".

    my big concern and question revolves around how to use the plugin in my MAMP build without eating up a regular license.  can you please tell me how best i should name the local build so it qualifies for the production install?  i wasn't exactly clear in the instructions provided in the documentation.

    i understand i'm asking a question about integration with a 3rd party software, but your manual DID lead to me believe you'd know how to answer this.

    thanks so much!!  i love the plugin and i really hope you can help.

    Hello,

    Thank you for getting in touch with us!

    An installation is considered a development environment if the site URL is either:

    • an IP address;
    • has no TLD (e.g. localhost, local, etc.)
    • the TLD or subdomain has a typical name (e.g. dev, test, local, stage, staging, etc.)
    • is on a whitelist (e.g. *.staging.wpengine.com)

    If you have any other question, feel free to ask.

    thanks so much for getting back to me.  after having reread the manual i tried to use those key words in the local URL and BAM, the registration showed up as "dev" rather than "prod".  this is awesome. :-)
