I am referring to the above website. For it I am using your Layer Slider intensively.
The issue, however, the speed performance (very below average for desktop; awful for mobile) is, having checked everything, mostly deriving from the slider plug in (and its performance impact).
Any idea what can be done to resolve that matter? Would love to keep it in place rather than build something new instead.
I checked your site in desktop and mobile, the loading time is correct. Your site has 88% pagespeed core in GTmetrix, which is a good score, please check it:
Thank you for your feedback! Don't worry, the PageSpeed insights doesn't give 100% correct results to the websites. If you check some big brand site for example Nike or Elementor official website, they get bad scores too. You should check this article about this topic in the wp-rocket blog: https://wp-rocket.me/blog/the-truth-about-google-pagespeed-insights/
Hence I am happy enough that I managed to get this website rolling. But what good performance is I certainly can not tell. What I do have noticed though is the fact that the "perceived and experienced" loading time of the desktop version, certainly more apparent when going mobile is really slow.
Interestingly, when the Layer WP (which I really love) is deactivated the speed increases a lot.
You should enable the include scripts in the footer, conditional script loading and use slider markup caching option under Layerslider -> options -> advanced tab.
In the slider settings / appearance tab( you should enable the show advanced settings to see this option ) , you can modify the initial fade duration of your slider.
Mobile devices have a large variance. It depends a lot on what platform, what browser, what phone do you test your site. When tested with many tools, we did not find a significant difference in performance and we also use optimization solutions directly to be good everywhere. However, unfortunately we can't influence the loading speed, it depends on the device, but we didn't notice a significant difference.
If you are not already using it, we can recommend to use a CDN service, use several different domains to load static content for the browser to multithread, have DNS pre-fetch for these domains, and so on. You should check some popular cache plugins for these services.
