Limited availability during the holidays

Another busy year is coming to its end, and an exciting year lies ahead. In order to get ready for a fresh new start, our team will spend a few days' rest during the winter holidays. Over the holiday break, we will have reduced staffing from December 20th, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, so please be patient if you do not receive a response as quickly as you normally would.

Users are saying in older versions of Google Chrome, the LayerSlider slide images quickly appears and then disappears off the screen.  It does not remain visible for the allotted time period to display.  With all other browsers it works perfectly, it just older Google versions.

"Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)" is one example where it does not work.

But oddly Version 80.0.3987.122 (Offical Build) (64-bit) does work fine...

I have very latest version of LayerSlider installed (6.11.1).

Any suggestions? Besides telling the user to upgrade their browser version.

    Thank you :0)

Here is a video of the LayerSlider problem some older versions of Google Chrome browser are having.

    Our website is www.tidewaterstriders.com.

As you can see, the slide image appears very briefly and then disappears.  On some slides only the button layer remains on screen.

So my user's machine runs a "Windows 10 Home edition" operating system.

    (See attached Screenshot).

    :)

Three people mentioned having this issue on their machines (all running older versions of Google Chrome).

    Hello James,

    Thank you for your feedback!
We tried it with Chrome 80,81,83 and it works properly. Do you use any extensions in Chrome?

I think I found away for you to re-produce this problem on any Chrome browser.

Open the URL.. http://tidewaterstriders.com and LayerSlider works perfectly.

Open the URL... https://tidewaterstriders.com does not work well.  Images vanish once they are displayed.

It has something to do with https:// and Chrome.  Other browsers don't have a problem with either URL.

    Hello James,

    Thank you for your feedback!

Try the SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin, it should help in most cases.

Any part of your site can be responsible for HTTPS mixed / insecure content issues. To have a better understanding about what causing this issue, please read and follow the guide provided by Google on this matter:
    https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/security/prevent-mixed-content/fixing-mixed-content?hl=en

Navigate to Settings → General on your WP admin area and verify that both the WordPress Address and Site Address fields are containing the right URL with the https protocol included.

Please note, as this post mentions, load balancers, proxies, and other network-related solutions and services may cause WordPress to not recognize the correct protocol. LayerSlider uses native WP functions to generate URLs, thus in many cases it is a site/server-related issue that can easily affect other assets on your site.

Hi. I have the exact same problem: layerslider will reproduce empty image slides on the Homepage, while other slides on other pages on the same site display correctly. I've updated Chrome on two different machines (one Mac, one PC) and the Mac now displays it correctly, after starting a page other than the Homepage which did not display any images at first and going back to it.

We've tried several times to fix this with mixed results, and the slides will reproduce correctly for a few days and then go back to empty image slides. Our client is really tired of this after paying for a Layerslider license, and we ran out of explanations a while ago.

    Can you please help us?

    Hi Luis...

The basic problem was google did not like mixed content within my site (i.e. https:// and http:// links).  Because of this, they classified my site as "Un-secure"...which then caused the odd LayerSlider performance.

I did two things to resolve this "Google" issue.

First I asked my Web host for a "Basic" SSL certificate.  This will give me basic encryption protection that prevents google from penalizing me.  My host offered this to me as a lifetime one-time Fee (@$130).

Next I downloaded the free plugin called "Really Simple SSL" from WordPress and activated it.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/

These two steps resolved the problem and my LayerSlider slides worked properly in Google.  Much rejoicing!

Hope this helps you.  Good luck
