Text layers display inconsistently

    Hi,

My text layers on this slider behave very oddly - when I open the site, the text appears relatively large, and offset slightly to the right. If I switch to widescreen, the text appears smaller, has jumped left and slightly changed alignment. If I switch back it looks slightly different again. How can I get it to display with a consistent alignment in the centre of both screen sizes?

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Hello Pete,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

I'd recommend using percentages in the Top and Left fields to position your layers. That way they will be in the same position in relation to each other on all screens, despite the sizes changes and scaling. It's also recommended to use the Calculate positions from -> Sides of the slider for all layers in this case. If you set them up this way, there should be no problem with their alignment.

    Hi Attila,

Thanks for getting in touch. I had already tried the things you recommend, but none of them worked. The slider had been working fine for a couple of months, but then I made a small alteration to the text, and now it's impossible to align properly and the preview window no longer matches what appears on the actual page. When I first load the page, the text is skewed to the right; if I then switch to full screen it jumps left and loses its internal alignment, and then when I resize the window again, it sits perfectly in the middle, as it should. If I then close the site and come back to it, the text jumps to the right again, and so on.

I couldn't have this on the client's home page, so I've moved it to this page: https://www.edgeconsult.co.uk/alt-home/ and I've attached screenshots of each of the scenarios described above. Ideally of course, it should always look like screenshot 3.

    Thanks for your help,

    Pete

Thank you for your patience. We have managed to locate the issue. Something (a theme or a plugin) is overwriting the letter and text values of the LayerSlider layers, and that causes this problem.

This can be seen in the browser inspector as well, the layers are getting a lot of data attributes applied on them, that is not generetad by us. These data attributes (for example data-fontsize, data-lineheight, etc) are applied by this 3rd party item and causes this issue.

You can find the culprit that causes this, by temporarily disabling other plugins and swtiching to a default WP theme. Then enable them back one by one to see which one is responsible.
