Play by Scroll buggy in Safari

Is there a update available? I need to do a project with this feature, but on Safari it doesn't work probably. The slider scrolls 2 times in or out (depending on scroll direction) and after that, the slider gets fixed and the animation starts.

    In Chrome it works fine.

    Hello Gerhard,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

Please note that the play by scroll sliders have to be scrolled to a certain position in the viewport to be triggered. The slider will be locked at that point and the scrolling effect takes over. The play by scroll effect won't start when only part of the slider is visible, it has to be further scrolled down on page first, until it fully enters viewport. So on pages where there is content above the slider, like the demo site, a few initial scrolls are needed. Even if the slider is the first element in the header, there is an initial scroll needed for the slider to register the viewport and to trigger the play by scroll effect.

Sorry, no. It doesn't really work with Safari. i have to scroll the whole site down, then it jumps to the slide. And you change the Window size, the slider scrolls with it, and the animation is lost...

I tried to realize a slider like this:

    https://www.porsche.com/germany/models/taycan/taycan-models/

Background video and scrolling text from bottom...

    no luck so far :(

    Thank you for the feedback.

We've tested our demo site using three different Safari versions on Mac and also on iOS, but did not experience this behavior.

Could you please specify on what device/browserversion do you see this? Or if it's happening on your site, show us that? Thank you.

  • Gerhard Hufnagl replied

I recorded the scrolling behaviour of your demo and my test. You can also see the broken functionality by resizing the window. No safari extensions loaded. No compromising software running. i hope, this helps.

    Thank you for your patience.

After further testing we've managed to reproduce the issue on iOS, but still nothing on Safari yet. However it is clear that there is something going wrong in certain cases.

We're sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for pointing this out.

Recently we've made some modifications on this feature and it looks like an error slipped through the testings. We are planning a large scale bug fixing patch in the upcoming releases, that will address this case too.

We are asking for your patience on this matter, and thanks again for letting us know.

    Hey everyone,

I am having the same problem on Safari / Mac and iOS. I also want to use this feature in a project. Will there be a bug fix?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us!

We’re working on the fix of this bug, but it will take more time than we originally expected. Probably we will completely remake the play by scroll feature, which means it will have a lot more feature than before.

    Thank you for your patience!

    Hello Jesse,

We are very busy with the development of the new version of LayerSlider, so we can't promise to fix this error in x days. Thank you for your patience!
