Slider Links Hanging / Not Responding

We have been using Layer Slider for a number of years on our WordPress website. We are primary school in Birmingham and have created several sliders.

When browsing the sliders, and clicking on a link, the link does not open, it just does nothing. However when we refresh the page, and try again, it works fine. It's frustrating to the end user and really need a solution to fix this issue. The issues only occurs when clicking on links that are linked to another slider. It does not happen on links where there is a document to download.

I have tried in Chrome - the latest version.

The link to the layer slider is here https://bellsfarm.org/curriculum/

    Hello Tony,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

We would like to confirm that we have received your message. It seems like something is interfering with the links in the slider on your site. We will look into what might be causing this exactly and get back to you.

We appreciate your patience while we're working towards your ticket.

We've tested this further, but as we can see the links are working now. Have you changed them, or managed to solve the problem in the meantime? Currently, all of the links are working for us, evne the ones that had issues yesterday.

  • Tony Baddhan replied

The problem is still occurring. It happens on when you load any of the sliders. At first instance the links don't respond but then after a page refresh links work.

Thank you for the feedback. We do not seem to be able to reproduce the issue anymore, compared to yesterday. The links are working on the first load of the slider as well. Is there any trick to trigger it consistently? Or does this happen in a certain browser?

  • Tony Baddhan replied

I've just tried again and the problem is still there. It appears like the slider is taking long to load and then once it loads, the links work. Can you try this, go to this page https://bellsfarm.org/curriculum/ -- click on Curriculum Statement > Click here for PSHE Planning.

    Thanks.

We've tried to reproduce it on multiple installations, but it just doesn't seem to happen anymore.

Could you please check it on a different browser, or even on another desktop/device to see you can see it there too?

  • Tony Baddhan replied

Yes it still occurs on other browsers, we have tried Edge and IE.

We have found the issue - it appears if you wait at least 20 seconds, the link then works. It's as if the page hasn't load fully for it to allow the button / link to work. Is there anyway of enabling a "loading" message if the sliders haven't loaded fully?

  • [deleted] replied

Thank you for the feedback. But the links in the slider are working immediately on page load for us. There is no 20 sec delay. The sliders are fully loaded once they appear and start playing. It's not possible for the links to load later separately. They are either there from the start or not at all. Could you please check on this on a different computer/device?

Thank you for your reply - it's frustrating as the problem is still occurring on my computer. I will try on another computer / device but I find it strange that you're not able to replicate the issue.
