To start troubleshooting please temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default WP theme to see if that solves the issue.

I found even after upgrading the plugin to its latest version the test slideshow does not show up.
I dug into the code of the frontpage and it seems like there's an object where I can see the background image (I used FF built-in inspector).
Could you please advise (I'm not such advanced in coding/debugging).
