I am migrating the site to another server. The current slider is outdate so I purchase a the new slider I tried to put the new licensed code in the plugin but it will not let me. If I just upload the new slider will I lose all the old photos on the old version. Please let me know. I have attache the screenshot of where I tried to enter the new license number to just do the update.

I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider.
You will need to remove the current version first, as there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation at the same time.
Please note that your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.
I am concerned with the images that are in the old version of the slider. I do not have them saved since I am taking over this site and the client doesn't have them. Does the database save the images also from that are uploaded on the old slider?
Yes, the images should also be kept in the process. But just to be extra careful, you can export the sliders first. So you will have them ready if anything happens.
