due to the fact that I got an email, that a new version of LayerSlider is available, I was trying to update the LayerSlider version 6.8.1 to the newest version 6.9.1 in WordPress. In the WordPress side bar »Plugins« I see that there is an update but don't see the LayerSlider plugin in the WordPress plugin list. How can that be? All other plugins I'am using show up.

Do you have LayerSlider bundled in a theme currently ? Or did you have it installed earlier as a bundled plugin before activation ? I believe that could be responsible for this, as some theme authors restrict the plugin in certain ways.
You could also try to reinstall the plugin with the latest release from CodeCanyon: https://layerslider.kreaturamedia.com/documentation/#installation Your sliders won't be lost in the process as they are stored in the database. This should also make sure that it shows up in the plugins list and that you have the latest version available.
thank you for your quick answer. My background is marketing/sales so »bundled« could mean something different for me than for you. Let me try to explain my way: I am using the Enfold theme for more than one and a half year. LayerSlider was purchased separately via Envato market early this year. So no bundle for me.
I followed your recommendation and reinstalled LayerSlider by downloading the latest LayerSlider version from Envato market onto my computer. I had to create a .zip file from the downloaded LayerSlider folder (why are folders downloaded and no zips?) and imported the LayerSlider.zip manually into WordPress.
After the installation procedure LayerSlider shows the latest release number and it is listed in the WordPress plugin list. So it works – thanks to your recommendation!

From CodeCanyon you download ZIPs, not folders. The LayerSlider install is also a ZIP file.
