Hi, I am having problems with activating and using LayerSlider 6.9.0 as detailed below

    1. Having purchased LayerSlider 6.9.0 I first deactivated the version that was bundled with the Wordpress Greenova Theme and then deleted it.

    2. I then installed my purchased version entered the purchase code and activated this 6.9.0 version.

    3. However when I attempted to add a template or add an existing Slider it was unsuccessful.

    4. I then deactivated LayerSlider and deleted it so that I install 6.9.0 version again on the same site.

    5. When reinstalled on the same site I could not activate it as there was nowhere to enter my purchase code (See Screenshot 1 attached - note all 3 buttons were inactive)

    6. Having checked the troubleshooting section I followed the link https://kreaturamedia.com/reset-activations/ (See Screenshot 2 attached) which, as I expected, shows my purchase code is available for use.

As I have now owned LayerSlider and still cannot use it I would appreciate a fix for this issue. I am urgently try to get our new website up and running and want the homepage to impress with a great LayerSlider feature.

Many thanks, I look forward to a swift response

    Hello Alan,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

We believe the problem is going to be related to a JavaScript error on your site. These type of errors are almost always related to 3rd party interference (or sometimes server problems).

If you set up a temporary WP user for us, we can login and confirm this for you. If it's a problem on our end, naturally we are going to fix it, but we are 99% sure that it's an external issue.

You can also test this by temporary switching to a default WP theme and disabling plugins.

    Hi Attila,

Hi Atilla, I had already followed your suggested steps from another post on the same subject. However, having repeated them again please see the actions and resultant screenshots below.

    1. I deactivated all plugins, uninstalled then reinstalled LayerSlider 6.9.0 and took a screenshot of LayerSlider System Status ( See Screenshot 1)

    2. I then changed the WP Theme to Twenty Nineteen ( See Screenshot 2)

    3. I activated  LayerSlider ( See Screenshots 3 & 4)

    4. I have now created Admin account in your name, so could you please provide your email address so I that I can send the account details securely.

    Kind Regards

    Alan

We've looked into this further with the login and found the issue. As we've suspected the problem is JavaScript error related, but not generated by a 3rd party item, but coming from a modified LayerSlider plugin file. This file was modified: /wp-content/plugins/LayerSlider/static/layerslider/js/greensock.js

As the error is triggered by the code in this file, we've compared it with the original plugin file, and found two differences. There are two URLs that were changed from "http" to "https". And this is why you cannot properly access the activation server.

It's likely that you are using some kind of security plugin that searches through your files and modifies them. Or maybe your host installed such service on your server. In any case, the modified files are permanently changed, so temporarily disabling plugins/themes can no longer help, as the problem is already in the file itself.

However, if you reinstall LayerSlider, the original plugin files will be restored, fixing the issue. Or you can also directly overwrite this file through FTP with the original one. The important thing is to disable the plugin/service/method that is responsible for this. Otherwise it will just modify the plugin files again.

While we understand that the forced use of HTTPS can be a security benefit, this particular case is false positive, there is no benefit to it, and a well-configured server does not need a solution that "blindly" overwrites everything without context and knowledge, because it can easily produce such problems, and it can happen with any other plugin.

Naturally, LayerSlider supports secure HTTPS pages, but this error is of different nature.
