I have had the plugin in theme, but the update is not fast enough to keep the plugin updated, so I decided to buy it by myself.
Can I now update the plugin without canceling it and all the content?

Yes, normally you can just use your new license to activate and update the plugin. Unfortunately some themes are restricting the update and/or activation method of the bundled version that could cause issues.
If you are not able to activate/update the bundled version, I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider.
You will need to completely remove the bundled version first, as there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation.
Please note that your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.
