I recently puchased Layer Slider because I think I'll actually like it better than Slider Revolution (which I'm currently using on my homepage). But I'm having some difficulties and now I'm growing concerned that maybe Layer Slider can't do what I need to do.
In short, I'm trying to create one slider with multiple slides that are each designated to pull the most recent post from one category. In other words, I need one slide set up for each category that will automatically display the most recently published post from that specific category.

The filters used in the Configure Post Options tab are global, so they are applied on all slides in the slider. Because of that, you cannot use separate filters for individual slides. But as a workaround you can select all categories globally for all slides (ctrl/shift + click). That way you can choose from each on all slides.
