After updating WP, LayerSlider and all the plugins, the slider on the main page of my website died. The inspect identifies the 404 error. I have tried the common methods like disable all plugins, change themes, enable PHP zip archive extension. None of them actually helped. I have spent a whole day on it and really appreciate any help or suggestions.

    Hello Nextechenergy,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

Could you please remove the 'This page is restricted' notification from the page, or give us temporary access, so we can check on the slider ? As it is now, the slider is not even added to the page, so we cannot check on it.

Thank you. We've logged in and checked the site again, but the slider on the homepage is not LayerSlider. As we can see it's 'flex slider'.

Did you change it in the meantime ? If yes, where can we see the LayerSlider slider ? Let us know. Thank you.

  • nextechenergy replied

It is created using LayerSlider, as shown attached.

The slider currently showing on page is flex slider. Please see the attached screenshots.

I believe you might be looking at a different page or a cached one. I'm opening the URL you originally added to the ticket: http://www.nextechenergy.com/home and it redirects me (even after logging in) to: https://shop.nextechenergy.com/ that has the mentioned flex slider.

  • nextechenergy replied

I have deactivated the redirection plugin, you can go to nextechenergy.com/home now and have a look.

Hi, I have managed to eliminate all the http errors, there is no error inspected by the browser now but the images are still all gone. Thanks for looking into that, looking forward to your reply.

Thank you. My colleagues and I will look into this to see what we can find, and get back to you shortly.

    Thank you for your patience.

There is a custom code in the nextechenergy.com/wp-content/themes/multipurpose/js/scripts.js file that interferes with the slider, preventing it from appearing properly.

We believe it might be related to an old isotope.js, but we didn't find any indication of version number to confirm that.

Outdated or not updated scripts and frameworks can easily cause issues with modern js codes unfortuantely as they are no longer supported by the web standards.

Your theme is loading that file, so we'd recommend to update your theme to the latest release. Or if it's already updated, contact them and ask for an updated version of that code.

Appreciate for the wonderful detective work. I will contact them for the code. Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback. If you need further assistance please let us know.

Hi, there. I got the code from them, but actually I am not quite sure which part of the script.js is the isotope code, or which part should I replace in that file. If possible, can you replace that section of code for me or could you give me a more specific instruction about the start and ending location of that code so I can copy and paste code. The code is here: https://github.com/metafizzy/isotope/blob/master/js/isotope.js

That is the reply I got from thememotive

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately we are not familiar with your theme or its methods, so we cannot really help with this case. As it's a theme related file and code, this adjustment has to be done on the theme's part. They should be able to help you further on this process. Thank you for your understanding.
