If you would like to add code to your layers, you have to choose the HTML layer type. Other layer types do not always interpret them properly.
But I do not believe that you need to add code for this, you could just use the plugin's built-in icons in your button layer. There is a dedicated option for this in the layer content field.
I DID PUT the code for the icon on the content layer. And how exactly am I supposed to use your button styles if I DONT use a button layer?

Get someone who can help me please. A button SHOULD be on a button layer so the code is created to render and provide button interactions. If NOT, I may want my money back for your "premium" service and I'll buy tech support from Avada theme providers.
Thank you for the feedback. Please show us your site or a test page with the slider, where we can check on this. Unfortunately, we cannot troubleshoot from screenshots, we will need to see the actual slider to investigate why the icon doesn't show.
I have used a button layer to create a button (which is repeated across 4 slides). It does not show the icon.

HERE is a screen shot from your html layer method.
1. added icon to code captured from Chrome code inspector. Did not show up
2. Created new layer for icon and positioned it and it did not respect the positioning I entered.
3. I've had LayerSlider for 2.5 years now and this has been a problem all along. Really?
