Hello, I have an issue with my wordpress site in that when I update to PHP 7.2 (which I have to do) the pages using the LayerSlider app go blank. I believe the LayerSlider app I am using came as part of a theme bundle when the site was set up. I have since purchased a licence for the app from your site but am not sure how to install it/unsure if it will simply and easily replace the current version. Could you please help? The site is hosted on WP Engine. Thanks, Christopher

    Hello Christopher,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

Unfortunately some themes are restricting the update and/or activation method of the bundled plugin that could result in problems like this.

I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider.

You will need to completely remove the bundled version first, as there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation.

Please note that your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.

You can find detailed installation instructions in the documentation that will guide you through the process, please refer to the following URL: https://layerslider.kreaturamedia.com/documentation/#plugin-setup

After this, there should be no problem with updates or activation in the future.

Thanks Attila. Do you know how I completely remove the bundled version first? Do I go to Plugins and Deactivate LayerSlider? Then install the version I have just purchased? And then do you know how I link the new version to the old content? You say they are stored in the database - do you know how I can relink them? Appreciate your support. Christopher

There is no need to re-link the content. It will be there the same way as before.

Normally (if your theme does not integrate it deeply), you should be able to simply deactivate and then delete it in the Plugins WP menu.
