I have plugin installed version 6.61 and bought the latest version. When I go to install I am told that there is NO plugin in the install package. It also says that the install folder already exists.

You have to decompress the archive that you downloaded from CodeCanyon and use the installable zip inside it.
Also, there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation at the same time. You will need to remove the current version first if you want to reinstall it.
