Limited availability during the holidays
Another busy year is coming to its end, and an exciting year lies ahead. In order to get ready for a fresh new start, our team will spend a few days' rest during the winter holidays. I am having occasional issues with mobile view, where assets cannot be seen but instead a white border box for where assets should be. This is temporarily fixed by going into Slider Editor and and "saving Changes" but in a day or so the issue comes back.
Any ideas?

Issues like this are usually occurring when the source of these layers are getting disrupted. Most likely, there is a temporary problem with the availability of these layers or their source/path, causing them to disappear until they are refreshed. Please check on the layers' source to see if they are still available and valid.
Another possibility would be that, a preloader/caching/optimization plugin or some kind of backup method is interfering with the layers' content, so the slider cannot load them anymore. Do you use this kind of solution on your installation currently ?
