just set up a slider that is full width but cannot figure out how to make it full height. i dont mind if the slider gets cropped to flood the background.

There is a dedicated fullscreen layout for sliders. You can select it in the Slider Settings -> Layout tab of the slider, it's called Full size. You can additionally select Hero scene mode for it. This option will always match the slider's height to the viewport, so it will always cover 100% of the browser window's height, regardless of the viewing environment.
i've just set the slider to hero and am not getting the effect im after (i may not be explaining it properly.) what im trying to do is to have the slideshow completely fill the background, much like the images fill the background of this site: http://brownbird.net/
you'll notice that the images on that site do get cropped on resize which i would be more than happy with. at present, the slideshow shows lots of white space on the top and bottom when i resize the browser. that doesnt happen on the brown bird site.
The slider itself is fullscreen at all times following up on the browser, but the content inside is not. You can force the content to fill the slider at all times with the Slide Background Image -> Size option, if you are using a slide image. Or you can set your layers to be 100% width and height if you are using layers instead.
atilla– when i enter 100% in height and width the slider artwork gets compressed on smaller screens. how can i make it so that it will simply crop the slider instead of squeezing the artwork?
The problem is that the layers are also behaving responsively and resizing alongside the slider. There's no option to turn off responsiveness for layers only, but keep it for the slider itself. However, what you could do for example is to set the artwork layers to be way larger size than the slider's canvas. Originally they might be cropped like this as they reach out of the canvas, but when the aspect ratio of the slider changes, they will still fill it.
