Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.
The reason for this is Google Chrome 66's Autoplay Policy Change. Google introduced new browser restrictions, which will prevent automatic video/audio playback in certain situations. Autoplay is now allowed only when either the media won't play sound, after the user clicks or taps on the site, or (on desktop) if the user has previously shown an interest in media on the site. Another follow-up update will arrive soon from us, which will provide further options to mitigate these restrictions. Since it's governed by the browser, there is no way to restore the previous behavior. However, we can supply alternate options like autoplaying muted videos where visitors can restore sound with a separate button.
Furthermore, unfortunately the video displays are quite limited on mobile and tablet browsers. Due to certain browser restrictions, the autoplay will not work so your videos won't start automatically. Even if you start the video manually by clicking it, it will be opened in a popup iframe window so it will not provide the same effect as it does on desktop.
Thank you. Yes, I now it. Could you please help me to mute the video to make it start automatically? Ok, but normally the video must work on the tablets as for example Ipad,...
Hi sorry for rushing you, but I renewed my support only to fix this issue. I've read in various topics that there is to add "controls muted" to the HTML code, but I don't know how and where and I can't find better instructions.
The "controls muted" attribute is for self hosted HTML5 videos only. So if you are using Vimeo or YouTube -which I believe is your case- , you don't need that.
In case you are using YouTube videos, you will need to add ?mute=1 to the end of the URL/embed for the same effect.
Or if you are using Vimeo, you can apply the mute in the video's settings on Vimeo.
As I can see you've disabled the slideshow completely. You've turned off the autoplay and also stripped the slider from its nav controls. So there is no way to start the slider manually, and it will not start by itself either. Therefor the video won't start either.
Please enable the autoplay for the slider, so it can start. The video should play with it as well.
The problem is with the video and not with the slider. Unfortunately we cannot do anything with the slider's shortcode or its embed method. It's the video that needs to be adjusted to work with the new Chrome restrictions, not the slider. The slider itself is there, but the video does not start inside it, so it looks empty.
Please set up a temporary WP login for us, so we can check your setup and see what needs to be adjusted exactly. Thank you.
The dev team logged in and invastigated this further, but unfortunately the mute method I was referring to earlier cannot be applied in your case. So the video will not start in Chrome duo to the mentioned browser restrictions.
We are already working on the update that will include an improvement that can bypass these restrictions, so the video autoplay will work again on Chrome as well. We will release it as soon as we are ready. We're very sorry for the inconveniences and thank you for your understanding.
Hi Attila, thnks for your reply. Can I change something in the video to solve it? or can I at least take out the video for the chrome browser leaving on the others?
Before I wrote you, i've seen other forums and I have seen that you are talking about an updated version that will fix this issue since different months... that's not positive:(!
Hi,
the video on the homepage doesn't starts automatically on chrome and on the tablets.
The video is without sound.
Thank you for your help.

The videos are still working on mobiles and tablets, only the autoplay is limited.
For the Chrome change as a workaround you could try to add "controls muted" to the HTML code where you embed the video, so it still plays in Chrome.
The autoplay is limited also on tablets? should it not start automatically?
I don't know where to add it...
Yes, the autoplay browser restriction affects most tablets too unfortunately.
I don't know where to add "controls muted" to the HTML code ... could you teach me?
Directly to the embed code that you use to insert the video. Its position in the code depends on what type of video you use.
Sorry, It's not enough clear for me. could you do it for me or show me step by step?

Let us know if you were able to do it.
The video is self hosted, over the menu on the home page www.zolliway.ch
I'm not able to do it.

I did these changes but it doesn't starts on chrome. Please explain me how to insert "controls muted" or could you do it for me?
Please send us the embed code for the video, we will correct it for you.
I don't use the emded code to insert the video.I work on cornerstone (see attached picture) . But the shortcode is: [layerslider id="4"]

Thank you. My colleagues and I will look into this to see what we can find, and get back to you shortly.

Unfortunately you cannot change the slider's content based on browser type.
I've talked to the dev team and they said they are finishing up soon with the update. It should not take too long now.
Thank you for your patience.
