Transitions can be applied for layers (images,text,etc) and slides as well. The layers can have several transition types, while the slides only a slide transition. If you want to use it for slides, then you will need to set a slide background image as well, as that is being used for the animation.
As mentioned, the documentation contains complete examples and everything else you might need to apply transitions. Please read the related Transitions part of the documentation for more information.
so transition2d and transition3d afer ONLY for slides with background images?
are there samples of layer transitions in your online samples?
Yes, the 2d and 3d slide transitions are for only slide animations. For layer animations you can use the options listed in the Adding Layers -> Layer Transitions section. Also, almost every demo slider has layer transitions applied.
