Have used LayerSlider for years. A major part of our marketing is having a limited number of feature sliders at the top of the homepage for the section. We have been researching other plugins for some time, but have not found any specific plugin that allows for the sliders to be loaded randomly on page loads. We did find a page with complex php code to accomplish this; however, we have always been hesitant to mess with the code of core files, plus we want to avoid any plugin conflicts.

Do you have any suggestions, know of any plugin alternatives that are compatible with you or is it expensive to have you research the code?

    Thank you.

    Hello Gary Jones,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

You can set the starting slide of the sliders to be random, or the slideshow itself to shuffle. But there is no option in the plugin to randomly load and switch out sliders on page load. We're sorry, but currently it's not possible to achieve this with LayerSlider. As you've mentioned it would need serious coding.

As I mentioned in my research I found a page showing the php coding that would be required to load the sliders randomly. My hesitation was  that I've always been cautious about amending the core files and you always have the issue of updates to deal with. You commented "serious" coding and I'm not sure what you mean by that?

This feature is critical to our overall marketing because there are only five sliders available for each section of our sites for a year. This first site is also the model for many other city portal sites, so this feature is critical. Maybe the direction we need to go is to have a plugin that randomly loads the sliders based on page load. Obviously we would like to stay with Layer Slider because it has served us well over the years.

As I've mentioned LayerSlider does not provide this feature currently. You might be able to create this effect with custom coding, but we do not provide this kind of plugin customization at the moment. Thank you for your understanding.
