I would like to add a pause and play button for the slider.
Right now, the option I can see is for the slider to pause on hover.

You can enable the start and stop buttons in the Slider Settings -> Navigation Areas tab of the slider.

I already enabled those settings but the buttons don't appear on the slider.

As I can see you are using the 'noskin' skin. This skin hides every GUI element, including nav arrows and buttons.

Yes, other skins should show the GUI elements, including the nav buttons.
