When I click on options, I get a message, 'cannot load layer slider options". Same when I click on 'add-ons'. When I try to edit the images I've uploaded, I get this: 'Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type.'

This seems like the WP user you are using currently does not have the proper permissions, thus these errors. Could you please verify that you are logged in as an admin and have the necessary rights ?
Thank you for the feedback, in that case unfortunately it is most likely a conflict problem on your installation or a server configuration issue. To start troubleshooting please try to temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default WP theme to see if that solves the issue. Please also check the LayerSlider System Status, located in the Options menu on the WP sidebar, for any related error messages that could provide more information.

Yes I am logged in as administrator and do have the necessary rights.
