I'm creating some sliders in which I'm adding some text layers. I want to position the text box in a particular place but it's locked on left, center, right.
This goes for all kinds of layers.
How do I "unlock" so that I can position these boxes and layers freely?

Layers are not locked by default, they can moved freely in the editor. So I believe that something is interfering with the plugin on your isntallation resulting in this behavior. Either a conflict problem with 3rd party items or a server configuration issue.
To start troubleshooting please try to temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default WP theme to see if that solves the issue.
Please also check the LayerSlider System Status, located in the Options menu on the WP sidebar, for any related error messages that could provide more information.
