The interface is frozen. After clicking on the downloaded animation nothing appears on the timeline. On another installtion I had 7 menus. On this installation I only have 3: Sliders, Options and Add-Ons

The 3 sub-menus are correct. In the later releases we rearranged them, and there are only 3 now that contains the additional options.
Regarding the frozen interface, there is no issue like this present in the latest release of our plugin (6.7.1.), so unfortunately it is most likely a conflict problem on your installation or a server configuration issue. To start troubleshooting please try to temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default WP theme to see if that solves the issue. Please also check the LayerSlider System Status, located in the Options menu on the WP sidebar, for any related error messages that could provide more information.
LayerSlider fully supports WP 4.9.4. It was tested on it, and we did not receive any reports regarding this from other users. So in case it's not a plugin/theme conflict, then it's most likely a server configuration problem. Were you able to check the LayerSlider System Status ?

I installed a new version of wordpress and installed LayerSlider before any other installation. Always the same, frozen timeline.
I uninstalled LayerSlider and installed an old version, it works!
Wordpress v. 4.9.4
LayerSlider v. 6.5.7
So, LayerSlider 6.7.1 does not work with the basic installation of Wordpress v. 4.9.4?

I actually checked the System Status, there was a small memory problem, which I adjusted to the desired value: 16 MB for importing files.
But for me my problem is solved, it works as I wish with the slider that suits me.
