I downloaded what I thought was just the zip file. Not all the documentations and everything else. But for some reason, when I save and extract the file there is no zip file there. Any suggestions?

The plugin's installable ZIP file is inside the package that you download from CodeCanyon. You should see it after extracting it. In case it's not there, something must have went wrong with the download and the package became corrupted somehow. Please try to download it again, or you could also use the Installable WP file only option to get only the required ZIP file.
I’ve tried several times to download this including the installable WP file. After downloading the installable WP file and extracting the files in the desktop, it shows “Layerslider” file. When I open that, it shows the bundle of files within. But no zip file. I shouldn’t have to extract the files in the installable WP file anyway right? It’s supposed to be just the zip file right?

That is very strange. Yes, the installable ZIP should be there, and it doesn't need to be decompressed. I've tested this, and I was able to download the proper ZIP file without any problem on CodeCanyon. I believe that this might be a localized issue, something is affecting (and ruining) the download on your end. Could you please try to use a different device to see if that also happens there ? In the meantime we can also provide you with the ZIP file here as an attachment if you would like to.
I wonder if my computer thinks its a virus and is deleting it upon download? I had my wife download it on her laptop with the same results. I don't have any anti-virus software.
Yes, that is what should be inside the ZIP. What I've attached to my earlier reply is the installable file itself. You don't have to decompress it, just use it in WordPress.

There should be no problem with this ZIP. I've downloaded it from CodeCanyon and tested it.
