I added a google font (Noto Serif) in Google Fonts section of Layer Slider plugin dashboard.
But when I go to edit slider section and choose the newly added google font family and saved changes, the text is not shown in the new font on edit screen above or in the actual website.
Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.
Thank you for the feedback. We will check on this to see if something's wrong with the Google Fonts and adjust it if necessary.
We didn't find any error with the implementation of Google Fonts in the plugin so far. Regardless, we'll test this further and include a fix if we find anything wrong.
Thank you for your patiece. We've read after this and found out that there is no Noto Serif available for Japanese. This font is only available for cyrillic, greek, latin and vietnamese character sets. If you check it on the official Google Fonts website, you can see that it won't display anything when Japanese characters are entered.
But it seems Google is already working on this in a form of early access fonts. You can find more about it on the following URLs:
You can add any font outside of Google Fonts to the slider, but in that case you will need to make sure yourself that it's properly loaded on the back-end and front-end as well.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
Just figured out it seems like the issue occurs when the text is in Japanese. It works fine in English.
I need the text to be i Japanese.. Just FYI thanks!

Is it possible to have you look into the issue by logging in to my wordpress dashboard?
Yes, I believe that would help. Could you please set up a temporary WP login, so our development team can look into it on your end as well ?
Don't forget to set the message to private when you include the login details.
Thank you. My colleagues and I will look into this to see if we can find anything, and get back to you shortly.

Ah I see. Seems like Noto Serif that's compatible with Japanese is 'Noto Serif CJK', not just simple 'Noto Serif'.

https://www.google.com/get/noto/#sans-jpan

Would it be possible to add this Noto Serif CJK in the google font list available for Layer Slider in the next updates?
Alternatively, is it possible for me to add custom fonts for layer slider?
You can add any font outside of Google Fonts to the slider, but in that case you will need to make sure yourself that it's properly loaded on the back-end and front-end as well.
So how do I add custom font other than google fonts?
I'm already using a custom font for theme font, so it should be loaded properly.
The theme should provide an option to load fonts to the site, there are also plugins that you can utilize for this.
So you will need to load the fonts using a theme/plugin, and then you can simply enter the font name to the Styles tab of the layer in LayerSlider.
