Hi, Im using the [content] tag to put content from my posts into a slider. Part of the content is a quote so I set it as a block quote but LayerSlider seems to ignore this. Since that didn't work, I italicized the quote part of my post, and LayerSlider ignores this too. I need the quote to stand out from the rest of the text and seem to have no way to style that since LayerSlider seems to be stripping all of the <em> tags and such when it gets the content of the post.

Have you tried to use the plugin's built-in settings to style your text ? You can achieve the same with the options under the Layers -> Styles tab, without using code.
No, see, that would style the entire text box. I want only part of the text to be italicized, and its very important that it is, because it is a quote that needs to be set apart from the rest of the text.
Unfortunately you cannot style only part of the text layer differently. The styling settings are applied on the whole layer. You will need to set this up with separate layers, if you would like to style it this way.
