Yes, it's possible. You can insert audio with the Video / Audio layer. When you select this layer type, a popup window will appear and at the botttom there's a Choose Media button. You can add mp3 with that by choosing it from your Media Library.

Is there a way to put a wav or mp3 file (or some other kind of audio) to play when the slide starts?
I tried video/audio layer, but i see it's not that simple.
