What exactly do you mean by that they are locked ? If you're referring to that they cannot be moved in the editor, that can be removed with the small lock icon next to the layer's name in the layers list.
Or if you mean that they are 'greyed out', that means they are static layers and were created on a different slide.
That is strange, there is no such issue in the plugin currently, so I'm not sure why can't you disable it. Please set up a temporary WP login for us sowe can check on this issue from your admin.

just a general question: I imported a demo layer slider and the layers are locked. Sounds stupid, but I don't know how to unlock them..

I mean the small lock, usually I can just click it to open it, but this doesn't work.

The lock is still there, but I can change everything.
