Limited availability during the holidays
Another busy year is coming to its end, and an exciting year lies ahead. In order to get ready for a fresh new start, our team will spend a few days' rest during the winter holidays. Over the holiday break, we will have reduced staffing from December 20th, 2025, to January 4th, 2026, so please be patient if you do not receive a response as quickly as you normally would.
We send our warmest wishes for happiness, health, and success throughout the coming year. Thank you for your continued support, and may you have a peaceful and blessed Happy Holidays!
I had a layer slider on my home page displaying without any problems. This morning I updated the layer slider to version6.6.8 and the layer slider disappeared. There was a big empty gap on the page but no slider. I have removed the slider for the moment until this issue can be resolved.
I tried creating a new slider but that did not help.
Hello Gillian Tyler,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.
That is indeed strange. There is no known problem with the update, and it shouldn't affect the slider displays at all. I believe the problem is going to be related to something else.
Could you please set up a test page with the problematic slider where we can investigate this ?
I have set up a test page at https://redbackwebdesign.com.au/slider/
I put both sliders on it.
Thank you. Did you also update PHP recently ?
We've received similar reports and they were related to PHP. We believe this issue is most likely related to the PHP version you're using on the web server as well. We discovered that PHP 7.2 can cause issues like this. Since that version was only released recently, we wouldn't recommend to use it on production sites. It is a custom in the industry, as new and major releases often suffer from various issues.
Could you please confirm that you're using PHP 7.2, and if yes we'd recommend to roll back a version until a fix is released (in form of 7.2.X.), it will most likely solve this.
Hi Attila
My host server is running php 5.6.33
Kind Regards
Gillian
Thank you for the feedback. In that case I'm not exactly sure what might be the problem. I will have contact and consult with the development team first and I will get back to you with the results as soon as I can.
We appreciate your patience while we're working towards your ticket.
I've got word back from the dev team. There is no init code for the sliders on your site. It should be generated automatically, so something is preventing it.
First of all, please check the Advanced settings in LayerSlider -> Options tab, to see if there is anything enabled that shouldn't be.
If there is nothing out of the ordinary, it is likely a conflict issue with a 3rd party item on your isntallation. Please temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default WP theme to see if that helps.
Hi Attila
I tried changing the theme and that didn't work. I then deactivated all my plugins and the slider worked. Then I activated my plugins one by one and the slider still worked. I put it back on my home page and it is still working. I suspect the problem is a conflict with photo gallery plugin.
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for the feedback, glad you could solve the problem. If you need further assistance please let us know.
