Is it possible to add a title beneath a slide? For example, the name of the post that the slide is linked to.

    Hello Perrorist,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

Sure thing, you can use the [title] placeholder with a dymamic layer to pull the title of a post that you specify.

Thank you. I tried this in a dynamic layer:

    [title]http://localhost/perrorist/2017/10/22/who-owns-all-the-brands/[/title]

but nothing was shown. Am I misunderstanding how this works? The documentation refers to a Configure Post Options button, but I couldn't find it.

The [title] element is the placeholder itself. You cannot manually add anything into it, it will automatically pull the available title of the post.

The Configure Post Options can be found in the Dynamic layer's Content tab at the bottom.

To get a better understanding of the dynamic post feature of the plugin, you could import the 'Dynamic Content Slider' from the Template Store and see how we set it up and what settings we used.

I don't think this is going to work for me. What I initially asked for was a way to show the post title beneath the slide itself. Failing that, above the slide as a slide title.

Also, the Configure Post Options doesn't provide the granularity I need. It appears to settle at the category level rather than allow me to select an individual post.

I viewed the template as suggested, but I still couldn't get the post title to show when I set my slide to show '[title] and the category from Configure Post Options. I'm wondering how the title is extracted - h1, h2, etc, or the post title? The post I tried doesn't have a heading.

Further to my last post, I've now figured out that individual posts are selected by the Use posts from matches dropdown. The missing title was being caused by the default Next in line option.

So I now have a workable solution. Thanks for your help.

Just as I thought I had this down pat, I discovered that the category for the last slide was being used for all the slides. Whichever one I last corrected had its category applied to the other slides. I have five slides, each for a different category.

Is it meant to be this way? Or is there a way of locking the selected category to a slide?

  • [deleted] replied

At the moment the limit is one post per slide, and the filters/categories are applied globally accross the slider. We are planning to improve this in the future, but these are the current limitations of this feature.

As a workaround you could select multiple filters/categories, so you can choose from all on each slide.

  • Perrorist replied

Thanks, Attila. I'll go with the workaround for the time being.
