These styling settings are most likely related to the skin you are using. I'd recommend to take a look at that first. Alternatively these could also be applied with the CSS Editor, if not related to the skin (Skin Editor).
We have recently upgraded a site from approx. 3 years ago. In the process we have moved from LayerSlider 4.5.5 to V6.1.
It appears that some border features have been added that weren't there before:
white border with slightly rounded corners
grey line above and below the slides
I've had a look through the LayerSlider settings but can't find where to set / unset these 'features'.
