Text size on mobile

I have reviewed other tickets that seem to be related to this problem, but I'm still not certain of the correct answer.  I paid someone to design my home page slider using LayerSlider.  They displayed the pop-up text in each slider image using 2 layers (in addition to the background image layer): an opaque background layer and a text layer on top of the opaque background.  When viewed on a small mobile screen, the text is much too small to read.

I have read your responses in other tickets suggesting that I should adjust the Min Mobile Font Size.  If that is correct, should I be setting the Min Mobile Font Size for the opaque background layer, the text layer, or both?  What is your recommended minimum font size for mobile?

Also, is it correct that my paid consultant implemented the text pop-up in two layers, or should this be a single text layer that has an opaque background?

Thank you for your help and thank you for your outstanding plugin!

    Hello Tony Celia,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to check your slider as your site seems to be restricted: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server."

Regardless, I believe that the two layer setup should be fine, you shouldn't change that and the min font size setting should go on the text layer. There isn't really a recommended min font size value for mobiles. It mostly depends on your slider, its initial size and layout. I'd recommend to test it with a couple of different values to see which works for you the best.

Thank you. I'm still not able to access the site, so that might be the case. Please add the following addresses: 176.63.224.98 , 46.249.135.6 , 84.3.172.51

Yes, that seemed to do the trick, I can see your site now.

However the layers appear to be fine for me. Both the text and its background are scaled down on mobile and the text is still readable. I've checked it on an Android device with two different browsers.

Were you able to correct the settings in the meantime ? In case not, on what OS/device/browser are you experiencing this problem exactly ?

I'm glad you are able to see the website.  I did not 'fix' the problem yet.  I am viewing the webpage on an iPhone 5s in portrait mode.  OS is iOS 10.x.  Browser is Safari.

I see, thank you for the feedback. I will contact with my colleagues so we can test this on multiple devices - including iPhones - to see what we can find.

    Hello again,

We believe it would be best to use a different approach to this problem, other than the min font size. Either using the device specific layers or creating device specific sliders.

In more details, since version 6 you have the option to display layers only on certain devices (desktop, mobile, tablet).
This new feature gives you the option to create separate layers and layouts for mobile and desktop view in the same slide, and only show them on the required device. For example setting a larger initial font size for the text on mobiles.

Additionally to the device specific layers, you could also build two sliders with different sizes or with different content for dekstop/mobile, include them both to the site, and only display them (using the Hide over and Hide under options) on the required device.

Thank you for your suggestion.  This sounds promising.  I will try that and let you know.  Thank you.
