About the update, you specify LayerSlider 6.6.0 is now available but where to update it? LayerSlider is not present in the plugins page and the dashboard indicates that everything is up to date.

The "Internal server error" is a web server configuration issue. Unfortunately this problem is most likely going to be related to your host, but first I'd recommend to update the plugin to see if that helps.
In case the auto-update is not picked up by your WP installation, I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider. You will need to completely remove the current version first, as there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation. Please note that your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.
