Darkening background image when returning to layer

let’s see if I can explain this problem.

In layerslider I have an image of me for the background on the opening slide. You can see it based on the above link. I’ve created partial slides with links to those slides. Navigating to each slide works fine, however when navigating back to the home (opening slide) my background image darkens. If I keep navigating back, it continues to darken further. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something in the settings?

Also on my cell phone, it darkens to the point of dissapering.

    This seems very strange.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello Duncan,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Attila and I'm happy to assist you today. I appreciate your patience while we've been working towards your ticket.

That indeed sounds strange. I have checked the URL you provided, but as I can see there is no LayerSlider included to your homepage. Where exactly can we see it to troubleshoot the problem ?

I gave the URL of my temp address. www.duncanshiels.net/wordpress. Didn't you see that? Just click on any of the links that are present on the opening slide. "Home" "Studio" "Contact". The other links are functional I think. Then when you get to one of the slides represented by the links on the opening slide, click back to "Home". Do it a couple of times and you will that my pic get darker and darker after each return.

    Make sense? Thank you again...

As I can see you've attached the http://duncanshiels.net/ URL to your first message, which does not contain LayerSlider.

In any case, I can see and reproduce the problem on this URL. My colleagues and I will look into this issue further to investigate it, and get back to you shortly.

    Hello again,

The problem is related to your static layers. To adjust this, you will need to set a z-index value that is lower than 100 for these static layers, so they don't get stacked. For example z-index: 90; to the Custom Style field.

Really? That's your explanation to the problem? My background image is the one getting darkened with every return from a link. Please tell me why this would be a problem and specifically how to apply it. This just seems to be adding custom CSS to something that should function on its own. Please let me know what I need to do to make this work. This can't be the first time this has happened to someone.

Actually yes, this is the first time that someone contacted us with this darkening background problem. As mentioned, the issue is caused by the static layers that you are using.

More specifically, you are using static layers on multiple slides, that are never transitioning out once they've animated in. These DIV / HTML layers are partially black, and they are getting in front of your first slide image on certain slide changes.

To adjust it, you will either need to disable their static status (making them normal layers instead), or use the below mentioned z-index method.

We will also make sure to adjust this behavior in the upcoming releases, so edge cases like yours won't be happening again.

Thank you for your understanding and sorry for any inconvenience.

OK thanks for the reply...and sorry for getting bitchy. Can you tell me how to accomplish the first version? How do I disable the static stats of each layer? I can't find where to do that? How do I make them normal layers? I don't see anywhere in each layer where I can do that. I really need this to work. Can you please explain to me how to achieve this?

    Thanks,

    Duncan

You can find this option in the Layers -> Transitions section at the bottom. It's called "Keep this layer visible: ..." and the default value is "Until the end of this slide".

If you apply this change to all the corresponding layers, the problem should be resolved.

  • duncanshiels replied

Thank you very much! that solved the problem immediately. It was only one layer in each slide that wasn't in the default mode.

    Thanks again,
