The second slide on the slider needs to link to the latest article in the comics CPT. I know there is already a shortcode to link to the latest post ([posts_url]) but I wondered if there is a way to change that short code to a different custom post type. If not, is there a way to add a custom shortcode to the link field? I think I've create a shortcode to do what I want but it's also not working.

You can order and filter your posts with the Layers -> Content -> Dynamic content from posts -> Configure post options section. You can arrange and categorize the posts as you like them there.
Please note that currently these filters are global accross all slides, and you can only use one post per slide. We are planning to improve this in the future, but these are the current limitations.

But these dynamic links only apply to posts correct? How do I get to apply to a custom post type I created?
You can also select that and configure it in the 'Configure post options' section.
