Plugin installs fine, but gives this error when I try to activate it:

Warning: require(/home/content/a2pewpnas01_data06/96/41166296/html/wp-content/install.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/content/a2pewpnas01_data06/96/41166296/html/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 13

Previous version of the plugin has been deleted.

    Hey rhashad,

There is no issue like this present in the latest release of our plugin (6.5.8.), so unfortunately it is most likely a conflict problem on your installation or a server configuration issue.
To start troubleshooting please try to temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default theme to see if that solves the issue.
Please also check the LayerSlider System Status, located on the WP sidebar for any related error messages that could provide more information.

The plugin will not activate, plugin status is not available

Have you also tried the 'trial and error' method I suggested ? Is this problem still occuring with a default WP theme activated and/or without other 3rd party plugins present ?

Yes, still getting the same error. This has been going on for too long, I really need to try something else. Please issue a full refund.

We've looked further into the error you're getting and found out that it's not related to LayerSlider.

As we can see it is generated by the WP Core. Most likely it would affect any other plugin or theme the same way on your site, if you tried to activate or install them.

Unfortunately we cannot tell the exact source of the issue at the moment. It's possible that because of an external factor, this does only happen in certain scenarios.

In any case, the "Permission denied in /home/content/a2pewpnas01_data06/96/41166296/html/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 13" suggests that the referred file (wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php) is not readale, so WordPress cannot load it.

We believe that the error is most likely related to this file and to the folder permissions (CHMOD). And the issue occurs when WordPress tries to load this file.
