I never did like this plugin as I have been trying to update it since 2012 to no avail.
it came in the Avada theme and if people pay for the theme then have to pay again for this thing why was it even in the theme to start with? Total ripoff. I purchased it today because it is becoming a security issue but cannot be updated through the theme. I paid the $24 ransom and the code i paid for still don't work. If I delete it I am afraid I will delete all my slides. So now i am going to file a complain with paypal....
If you've received LayerSlider as a bundled plugin in your theme, item support and updates are provided by the theme author. These are the current Envato rules, so your theme author should have provided you with the updates in your case.
Regarding the activation, unfortunately some themes are restricting the update and/or activation method of the plugin that could result in problems like this. I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider. You will need to completely remove the bundled version first, as there cannot be two instances of the plugin present on your installation. Please note that your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.
