Apparently, there is no auto-update available the WordPress version of LayerSlider.
When I try to update LayerSlider using the link in the popup banner at the top of the LayerSlider admin page alerting me of the new update, I get this error:

To do this, you need to enter both your Elegant Themes Username and your Elegant Themes API Key into the Updates Tab in your theme and plugin settings. To locate your API Key, log in to your Elegant Themes account and navigate to the Account > API Key page. Learn more here. If you still get this message, please make sure that your Username and API Key have been entered correctly
I have re-authenticated my theme by going the process again of submitting my username and API key. A icon came up with a green checkbox indicating success.
I successfully authenticated my version of LayerSlider on the LayerSlider admin.
Hopefully., you can help. The error persists. What is the best way to update LayerSlider for WordPress?
Unfortunately the problem is caused by your theme, the Elegant Themes. They are interfering with LayerSlider's default updating methods, generating this issue.
We have contacted them about this problematic method that they are using, and hopefully they will resolve this soon.

Unfortunately the problem is caused by your theme, the Elegant Themes. They are interfering with LayerSlider's default updating methods, generating this issue.
We have contacted them about this problematic method that they are using, and hopefully they will resolve this soon.
In the meantime you can update the plugin by temporary switching to a default WP theme and disabling any plugins related to your theme, so there is no interfering.
