Slider Widths

Sorry for two tickets in one day but I'm trying to get this fixed for my client.

On the Home Page, I have a Slider customized from your Creative Agency slider in a Widget area designed for a Slider and it fits the available space with no issues. Home Page

However, tonight I created a Slider customized from your Landing Screen 7 (Team) Slider and installed it on a secondary page on the website. I set the page for full-width with no columns. Just like the other Slider above, it is set for 1200x800, 100% and is set to Responsive. However, this slider extends wider than the content area while leaving a gap at the top and bottom.

Is this a theme issue or a slider issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just paid to extend my support time. Thanks!

Here's the specific pagethat has the second slider. You can also see the problem in the attached image. I've checked with support at Genesis/Studiopress which my site runs on and they said something in the slider's CSS is doing that. Can you help? Thanks!!

    Hi,

I've been waiting for two days and still haven't gotten a reply to this ticket. I know it's not a high price but I renewed my support service with you in order to get help with this. Can you let me know if anyone is even reading this? Thanks for your help. It's really important to me.

    Hey Bill,

The issue seems to be related to your theme. The author of your theme built the theme's structure in a way where they apply display: table and table-cell on the slider's parents elements.
This is bad, because these kind of elements are being resized by their inner content. However the slider is calculating its position and resizing itself according to the parent element.
Also, the elements that wrap around the slider are being applied with "display: flex;" and similar CSS attributes, which is not recommended for placing large content and/or to set up complex page layouts.
From your theme author's part, this is not a good approach in any regard, it can effect any element on the site not just our slider. And it will most likely lead to many incompatibilities and graphic errors.

Futhermore, as I can see this slider was built with an older release of the plugin and was set to fullwidth layout before. This setting was brought over to the new version due to compatibility. Please navigate to the Slider Settings, change the slider to fullwidth layout, enable the show advanced options and remove any value from the responsive under field and then set it back to normal responsive mode.

    Hi Attila,

Thanks for getting back to me. The theme is an in-house child theme from Studiopress on the Genesis framework. It's one of the largest theme companies in the world. It wasn't a theme issue at all. I'd already had Studiopress check it and they said it was something on the slider side.

The good news is your suggestion on what to do within the slider took care of the problem. It did not fit as well on the secondary page as the slider on my home page's Slider widget did. It rendered slightly smaller than the available space. However, I just put a white background graphic and it blends perfectly.

Now that we have this running, next time I'll just create a slider widget cloning the code on the home page for any additional pages I need to run it on.

    Thanks,

    Bill
