If this does not do the trick please navigate to the Dashboard->Updates menu and try to update there.
We have also uploaded the new release to CodeCanyon, so once the Envato admins accept it you can also download it and manually update the plugin by reinstalling it. Your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in this process.
I've got the same problem - Update not available. I found your new update at Envato but have a question. The instructions say to deactivate and delete the current version first. Before I pull the trigger on the deletion, can you please verify that I need to completely delete the old version and that my existing sliders won't be affected? Thanks for your help.

I have tried many times to get the automatic update, but every time it is giving the error as under:
"An error occurred while updating LayerSlider WP: Update package not available."
I tried getting the latest version from codecanyon but it still has the old version 1.4.0

Yes, that is the case. Your sliders are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.
