That would make sense. It won't let me update my theme Avada or the new layerslider plugin? I purchased another year of support with layerslider. How do i activate with my license code and get the update and hopefully resolve this issue?
Did you have LayerSlider installed as a bundled item in your theme earlier ? There are themes that are restricting the update and/or activation of the plugin in some cases.
If the auto-update feature does not work due to this error, I'd recommend to manually update the plugin by downloading the newest release from CodeCanyon and reinstalling LayerSlider. Your sliders and settings are stored in the database so they won't be deleted in the process.

This has been showing when I try to open layerslider from my dashboard for the last 24 hours. We are going live with the site today and I'm nervy.

There is no maintenance mode or this kind of notification built into LayerSlider, so it cannot generate this error.
I believe that this is going to be a WordPress error message, affecting your whole site/admin.
